"Because I lived recklessly. I’d forgotten… while I was hanging out with you."
that awkward moment when you know your bias does the same thing as you do..
Can we all collectively talk about this scene?
From the beginning, Youngdo has made an emphasis on how his mother left him at a young age. The lack of compassion and tenderness from a mother has made him a bitter sociopath, bullying the Social Care group and doing anything to steal Eunsang away from Kim Tan as some sort of revenge.
Now to this scene. It can be suggested from the genuine shock in his face that he has never had a homemade meal, a symbol of a mother’s love for her children. He realizes the significance in the middle of eating as a million of thoughts run through his mind. Anger, sadness and maybe even bitterness that Eunsang has such a loving mother. But he instead of complaining and whining as he did in the first few eps he ends up being thankful and grateful for the meal; delivering a heartwrenching “It’s so delicious” because that’s all he can really say to his crush’s mother without making the entire scene awkward.
This act of kindness from a mother becomes the catalyst for Youngdo’s epiphany later in the episode, understanding that his attitude towards his mother leaving was immature and a shameful way to remember her and all that she was.
I’ll eat well.
Don’t lie. You were bawling at this point.
Those countless cups of ramen were his desperate plea
to eat the rice cooked with his mother’s hands.
"I should have taken you there no matter what, If i had known that it was your last chance." -Kim Tan
"I should have followed you no matter what, If I had known it was a chance I couldn’t have anymore." -Choi Young Do
The one thing I always did like was my younger sister.
